The use of the “Organic Product” mark is provided by the Law of the Republic of Belarus dated November 9, 2018 No. 144-Z “On the production and circulation of organic products”.
Its description and application procedure are established in the technical code of established practice TCP 580.
The “Organic Product” mark informs consumers on necessary procedures performed by the manufacturer for conformity attestation of organic products to the requirements of all technical regulatory legal acts (TNLA) applying to such products and processes of their production specified in the certificate of conformity.
Description
The sign is a circle, inside of which there is a leaf of a plant and letters in the form of the inscriptions "Organic Product" and "Belarus" that can be applied in both Russian and Belarusian.
The inscription "Organic Product" is placed from left to right on the top of the circle, the inscription "Belarus" – from left to right on the bottom of the circle.
A circle, a leaf of a plant and inscriptions are applied in green on a white background. If the manufacturer does not have the technical ability to apply the mark in color, it may be black and white.
The minimum basic size of the graphic image of the mark is 6 mm. The manufacturer can make it larger by proportionally increasing it in relation to the basic size.
Application Procedure
The mark is applied by one of the following methods:
- branding a packaging unit using a special brand;
- applying on the packaging a flat or embossed image of the mark with the help of specialized technological equipment;
- using of packaging materials and shipping documentation forms with images of the mark on them;
- attaching this mark to organic products in the form of labels, labels, self-adhesive tapes, etc.
The method used shall provide clarity, legibility and distinctiveness of the image of the sign and its elements to the unaided eye.
Specially manufactured products with the image of the mark should be fixed on the packaging by a method excluding the possibility of contesting the belonging of the mark to the products marked by it and the possibility of secondary use of a specially manufactured product with the image of the mark.
The mark may be used in conjunction with text indicating the code of the certification body or certificate of conformity number. The text is placed directly below the mark.
When making inscriptions using flat printing, shall be used the font Pr3 of GOST 26.020.
The mark is applied on a voluntary basis. It can be used by the manufacturer of organic products after carrying out all the necessary procedures for conformity attestation and with a certificate of conformity for food products confirming the requirements established for organic products.
The mark may also be applied to the shipping, technical documentation and advertising materials of certified products.
In case of expiration of the certificate of conformity, suspension or its cancellation, the manufacturer shall immediately stop using the mark.
Control over the lawfulness of using the mark is carried out by the certification body that issued the permit for the right to use the mark.
