Marhunova Alena was born in Mogilev.

In 1989 she graduated from the Mogilev Technological Institute with a degree in technology of bread, confectionery, pasta and food concentrates, and in 2000 she completed her postgraduate studies at this educational institution.

Labor activity of Marhunova from 1989 to 2013 was held at the Mogilev Technological Institute, which in 2002 was renamed as the Mogilev State University of Food Technologies. During this time Alena Marhunova worked her way from the engineer to the deputy dean.

In 2013 – 2022, she held the position of Deputy General Director of the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Scientific-Practical Center for Foodstuffs of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus”, where she supervised issues of science, standardization and quality of food products.

From 2022 to April 2024 – First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus.

By Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated April 22, 2024 No. 169, she was appointed Chairman of the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus.
